Spring!

Ringo Room
It was great weather yesterday, for the most part. There was a short Spring shower though. It didn’t last very long. Then sun popped back out and warmed it up nicely.
I worked on my little building project. I am closing in what used to be a screened-in porch. I’m putting up paneling board and walling it up. It’s the outdoor kind of paneling that’s treated. The guy at Lowes said you could bury it underground for years and it wouldn’t rot. He also said termites won’t eat it.
It’s going to be a little room for Ringo, our dog. I had to repair the roofing with roll roofing because of a major leak. We’ve had a few hard rains since then and it seems to have stopped leaking. The little room will be 15 by 20 feet. There is indoor/outdoor carpet on the pad. Beside’s letting Ringo live there, I’m going to use it for storage. It will be a place for my mower, tiller, and possibly my motorcycle.
Vicki and I went and purchased three trees. Two are pink Dogwoods and the third is a Redbud. We slid them all over the yard trying to figure out where we’re going to plant them. We still haven’t figured it out. She wants to cut down an existing white Dogwood we have to make room for these but I don’t want to. It is too close to the road and it makes it hard to see when you are pulling out from our drive. I just hate to cut it down because it’s a really cool tree. I went out into the woods and dug it up over 10 years ago. Now it’s a full grown tree! I just didn’t know that it would be a problem when I planted it there all those years ago.
It’s Sunday morning. It has been raining. The sky is dark and it looks like it’s going to be one of those dark, dreary days. I’m sitting here at the computer listening to The Grateful Dead. I am thinking about painting another picture for EBay. I sell regularly on EBay. I paint little, Aceo style paintings of people I know. An Aceo is a small painting, usually 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. They sell pretty good, though I don’t get very much for them.
Why The Crap Does Everything Want To Live In My Dryer Duct??
It happens every Spring. Black birds will try to built a nest in my dryer duct. We have been hearing them flitter about in the bathroom for about two weeks now. I always run in there and turn the dryer on to flush them out. I went and bought one of those plastic dryer screens that is supposed to keep them out. I’ve bought those before and a few times I get a pair of smart birds that can take the screen part off. I’ve found them lying on the ground underneath the duct. As if birds weren’t bad enough, there have been a couple of occasions where I have had Sugar Gliders move in. In case you don’t know what a Sugar Glider is, they are essentially flying squirrels.
My dryer stopped working one year. The clothes wouldn’t dry and eventually the heater coil burnt in two. After investigation, the dryer hose was full of nuts from a nearby Tulip tree! When the heat couldn’t escape, it overheated the coil and burnt in two.
Just a while ago, Vicki hollered at me and said her dryer wasn’t working. She had been drying a load of towels for an hour and they were still wet. I knew from past experience what that meant. I pulled the dryer out and undid the hose. It was full of twigs and leaves from the Black birds. Stay out of my dryer!!
